July 7th is Tanabata—the romantic night when Orihime and Hikoboshi are said to reunite across the Milky Way, just once a year.
But in Tokyo, this time of year usually falls right in the middle of the rainy season, making it hard to catch a clear glimpse of the stars.
In fact, according to 9 p.m. weather data from the Japan Meteorological Agency (Tokyo Regional Headquarters) between 2000 and 2024,
it was clear on only 5 occasions.
That means the chance of seeing the stars on Tanabata over the past 25 years has been just 20%.
However—
The forecast for Tokyo on July 7, 2025 is “partly cloudy with sunny intervals” ☀️⛅
This could finally be a rare chance for Orihime and Hikoboshi to meet under a clear sky.
